How To Drive Search Engines To Your Site

March 16, 2013 by Clarence Divas

You thought you took care of Google Places Optimization when you first set up your website. You studied it thoroughly and followed the best advice. Better yet, it worked for a long time. It brought relevant traffic to your website and built a customer base. Why then, has your traffic fallen off? Google Places Optimization is constantly changing. The changes may be small shifts in algorithms, but they can have big consequences. Here are some search engines tips on ways to catch up with current Google Places Optimization.

Search Engines Optimization tips for Google Places

Search EnginesJust as you have to weed a garden, you need to weed out the elements in your website that are no longer effective, or are even invalid. Have you checked your links page? If not, there are probably some expired links there. When customers click on these and get a “page not found” or an irrelevant page, they lose a little confidence in your business.

The major “weeding” you will need to do is in your keywords. Popularity of keywords changes over time. Also, experts’ advice has changed. Don’t just look for the most popular keywords. Look instead for the best keywords recognized by your target audience. You are not trying to reach a broad general public. You are trying to reach people who want your particular product line, your niche.

This narrowing of scope is important. The more popular a keyword or phrase, the more competition is involved, and therefore using this popular keyword puts you up against stiffer competition, and you come out with a lower page ranking.

On the other hand, if you use a narrowly targeted keyword-phrase, one fitted to your niche market, you will draw the most interested customers and will also get a higher page ranking due to less competition.

Think more about building backlinks and use more techniques than previously. They are very important both in making your site visible and also in establishing its credibility.

How to Get Great Search Engines Ranking

Issue press releases with details of new products or services. These will be picked up by search engines and directories.

Create content on your site that is helpful to news organizations or general information websites. This creates backlinks to your site and establishes it as authoritative. You can create this content through a blog with postings related to current news, or through instructional/informational videos.

Emphasize quality in your backlinks, not quantity. Contribute to a widely read blog, or post comments on popular forums. Teach a local class about business. This can lead to an .edu backlink. These are prized because they carry authority. An .edu backlink can do a lot to establish your credibility.
Include helpful diagrams or charts on your site that will be picked up by other sites, creating backlinks.

Good images of your products are essential. Combine these with keyword text, and search engines will reward you.
A memorable logo is important to your business. It becomes something recognized by customers, who will click on it when they see it. Place your logo widely, including on social media sites, so that it becomes part of your business’ identity.

Following these tips will give you a good beginning at revising your site’s Google Places Optimization. Without updating, your Google Places Optimization ranking is bound to decline over time. Take action to keep up with your competitors!
