Do you use google places optimization to improve your ranking in search results? There are a few common mistakes you need to look out for. Keep reading for common google places business optimization mistakes.

Google Places Business Optimization MistakesDo not optimize your website with the keywords you would use to describe your products or your topic. The visitors you are targeting might eventually start using these keywords, for instance once your products become more popular. You need to tailor your approach in function of the keywords your audience is using. Check search volume and popularity for different keywords on Google AdWords and keep doing more research on keywords to make sure your choices are still relevant as you develop your campaign further.

Do not place too many keywords within your articles. Your human readers will quickly notice that your articles are written for google places optimization purposes and will stop reading. It is best to focus on writing excellent articles for your audience and use a few keywords when it is natural to do so. Place your keywords outside of your text, including the title tags you use to describe your articles or the alt tags that allow you to optimize your images. Do not forget your URLs, anchor text and meta tags.

You should not assume that an XML sitemap is enough to help search engine spiders find all your pages. You need to connect all your pages to make your site easier to navigate. Each one of your articles should include three or four links to more similar pages. Create some site-wide links to draw traffic to your main pages and organize them in a menu or create a banner if you want to draw traffic to a product page. If you have several articles, organize them in an archive.

You should not use link farms or other low quality sources for your back-links. Many services will offer to create back-links for you but keep in mind that back-links will not attract traffic to your site or help you rank higher in search results if they look like spam or are located on pages filled with other irrelevant links. You need to create your back-links yourself, for instance by sharing your articles on article directories or by working with other webmasters so you can exchange links.

You should not forget that there is always a need to update and improve your google places optimization campaign. Search engines are regularly improving the techniques they use to analyze and index web pages, which means your current google places optimization campaign might not be relevant anymore in a few months from now. Besides, you will always have to work on building new back-links or working on keeping your current back-links active. Always stay up to date with new trends and techniques so you can improve your campaign.

Do your best to avoid these common google places business optimization mistakes and optimize your website properly. You should do more research on the most efficient and current strategies you can use.
