October 24, 2013 by Blog Editor

No one can run an effective website without optimizing it for search engines. If you have a website, you naturally want your target audience to find it. This requires the strategic use of keywords in your website. Learning google places business optimization is not hard, but there are basic things that you need to learn. This article will explain some of those ideas for Google Places Business Optimization.

Ideas for Google Places Business Optimization

Google Places Business OptimizationWhen a person wants to search for information on a topic, he enters a set of search terms into a search engine. The results that come back are ranked in the order of relevance, with the most relevant on top. These are the websites that are optimized most efficiently for that particular set of keywords. This is how search engines work, and that is why having good keywords in your web content is essential in good Google Local Optimization strategy.

Now that that you understand why keywords are important, you have to come up with keywords that are relevant to your website. Look at your business industry, and imagine someone trying to look for information about it. What words would they type into a search engine? As you think of some words and phrases, write them down. You can go to outside sources to come up with keywords as well. If you have industry literature around your office, read those and see if any phrases get your attention. Look at other websites that are offering products or services similar to yours, and get some ideas.

After you have list of keywords written, rank them by relevance. The first ten to twenty will be your core keywords. These will be used in strategic places on your website to give them maximum weight.

Choose Good Keywords for Your Site

One of the core places for your best keywords is the title of your web page. This is the title that is at the top of your browser window. It is also the title displayed in your search result entry if that page was ranked. In your webpage code, this is found in the header section in the title meta tag. This is where you can change your page title to anything you want. Look at your list of core keywords, and see if you can use one or two of them.

The description meta tag goes right along with the title in your entry in search results. Develop a good description using more of your keywords. People will be seeing your title and description and asking themselves if your website is worth their visit. If you want them to click on your entry, your title and description should give them a reason to visit.

Keywords can be used in the file names of your web pages. They are effective in your headlines H1 tags. They can also make an image visible to search engines if these words are put in the image tag’s ALT attribute.

When you understand how keywords work, Google Local Optimization will be more clear to you. This is just the tip of the iceberg. So, keep learning, apply what you have learned, and watch for improvement in your site rank.
