Optimizing Your Sites for the Search Engine

April 3, 2014 by Blog Editor

A lot of people know that they have to do some kind of google places optimization, or Google Local Optimization, but they aren’t sure what that entails. Search engine algorithms rank sites according to keyword relevance, but that doesn’t mean anything to you if you’re not familiar with it. Here are some google places optimization tips that you can do that are easy enough.

Tips For Optimizing Your Google Places | Search Engine

The first thing you want to do is to determine what your keywords are. What are keywords? That’s a great question. Keywords are words that your target customer would type into a search engine box. For example, if your site is related to fly fishing, a keyword would be “fishing”. Keywords can be more than one word, too. Another keyword for fly fishing is “fly fishing”. Choose keywords that you want to be recognized for. You would not want to use the word “cake” if your site was about fly fishing!

Search EngineWhen you have your keywords, what do you do with them? Well, you use them in your content. You sprinkle them throughout your content the way you would put salt on a piece of meat. Much like salt, you don’t want to overuse your keywords. It should be natural usage, which shouldn’t be difficult if you’ve chosen the right keywords.

Now, the search engine send out crawlers to check sites to see what keywords they’re relevant with. If a search engine crawler comes across your site, it should be able to see, using our example from above, that you are relevant to “fly fishing”. It will rank you higher in its search results for fly fishing than it will rank a site about cheese.

Search Engine Algorithm

Keywords aren’t the only game in town, of course. Now that you have gotten some traction from your keywords, you have to turn your attention to the other part of google places optimization: back links. The way the search engine algorithms see it, if you are highly relevant to your keywords, other people will be linking to your site. Therefore, you need to build as many backlinks as you can. How do you do that?

One excellent way to build backlinks is to write guest posts and articles for other people. Then, in your author box, you put a link back to your site. In fact, you can also embed a relevant link in the text of your article as well. This way, not only will you get backlinks for your site, but you are also going to be seen as an expert in your field, since your work is showing up around the web.

Now, if all of this still sounds confusing, you can always outsource your Google Local Optimization work. This is a good idea if you simply don’t have the time to do google places optimization. Just make sure that whomever you hire has a provable track record of good results.

Now that you’ve had a chance to read this article, you know better how to do some google places optimization of your own. Make sure you give every tip a try so that you are doing what you need to do to be ranked better by the search engine.
